Final Individual Cultural Diversity Course Reflection

I’ve been enlightened by knowing more about Culture Diversity. I didn’t know how important it is to learn about the outside world. Due to this course, I can interact with other cultures better and more effectively.
To begin with, I have learned a lot since this course began. There was one class when we had to see a video of teaching children about discrimination. They separate the blue eyed and the brown eyed from each other and give power and superiority to a side for a day, then the other side for the other day. Just so they can see how it feels to be discriminated. That is an effective way to teach kids about discrimination and avoiding it. There was another class where we learned about the –isms in advertisements. People feel offended about it, so I can see how it effect people and avoid showing bad advertisements. The class that I most enjoyed and learned from was the group that went to mountain climbing. It showed us how effective a group can be when they have people from all around the world. For example, you’re getting different ideas and talents from every side of the earth. It inspired me to work with different cultures and people. However, the most interesting class I’ve been in was the first video reflection.
Studying Culture Diversity till now has showed be how important this course is, because it helps you to know and to interact with other cultures more commendably. And this course should be taught to children and teens, to reduce racism and discrimination between children in schools. And it is more effective to be learned when you’re a child. Our government should put this course in our curriculum and should be learned for more than one semester. It is a good way to help educate kids about Culture Diversity.
Harmony Day is a good way to learn about cultures and it is a heartwarming event. Basically, it is an event that lets all the cultures in a country to show more about their culture and heritage. For example, food, clothes and special things that characterize one’s culture. So, UAE should have a harmony day because we are already a multi-cultured country. It will help enhance the respect between cultures and reduce racism in our country.
To conclude, Culture Diversity is an essential course for every age and level. So the ministry of education must put it in education curriculum for all students.

Exercise #10

Blog Exercise 10A: Write a reflection of 50-100 words (#10A) about modern slavery today. What do you think?? Figure out how many slaves work for you.. and post on your blog..
Nowadays our conservative estimate is that there are around 21-30 million people in slavery. which means that today  there are more people in slavery than at any time in the human history. Slavery has existed for a long time ago, but the changes in the world’s economy and societies over the past 50 years have enabled a resurgence of slavery. I think slavery is really bad and dangerous because it deny the human right. It can also create an unstable society full of hatred.

no slaves work for me !

Blog Exercise 10B: Add 50-100 words (#10B) to your reflection about
What else has the UAE done to try to ensure human rights for its workers and to stop human trafficing? Why is this important for the (your) government to take this stand??

They give every 2 year time to go back to their families. Human rights and women rights apply to the workers in UAE.
The government of the United Arab Emirates guarantees human rights by giving freedom of speech, freedom of movement, freedom of communication, freedom of religion and quality before law. Sheikh Zayed gave women great rights such as the right to drive a car and the right to education. So, women can play significant role in the society like men. Human rights are important because people feel free when they gain them. Also, it is important to my government to stop tyranny.
